If you are, then you could fit upwards of forty tetras. They produce very little waste, and they're really small fish. I wonder though, wouldn't it be difficult to feed so many fish? Making sure the food gets to all of them... Sounds tough!:%) Anyways, that sounds like a pretty good tank idea, just make sure that if you buy the neons, they are healthy and active. Neon tetras are supposedly disease-carriers. ![]() |

My plan is to have black gravel, a school of albino cories and then a large school of neons... I think it would be very cool. I posted about it months back and several people suggested cardinals because they are much hardier. In my case I think we're setting up my husband's cichlid tank first so I have more time to decide. Let us know what you end up doing. Beth |

It looked really nice. In a large school, the cardinals just thrive. So, I think it would make a nice tank. I'd probably lean towards cardinals, if I were you because they're a bit hardier. |

However, you want to make sure your LFS stocks nice, disease free, fat bellied individuals, as they are usually wild caught, and will sometimes starve. IMO, neons would be the better choice, as they are cheaper, and if well cared for, should be very hardy. Their disease ridden rep comes from neons that have been shipped for long distances and poorly cared for. If kept in ideal conditions, neons are almost as beautiful and hardy, and live longer, too.
