I have 5 neons and 2 siamese dolls in a 10 gallon tank that is cylcing right now. I was about to move the neons to a 27 gallon tank, when I noticed that one has a very distended belly. I had noticed that one was a little pudgier looking than the others, but today it lookds like it's expecting. Could this be dropsy? It seem svery healthy in other ways, chasing the other neons away from it, it's color is still good, swimming normally, eating, I don't see any scales sticking out on it. I do not have a hospital tank or I would stick it in there. Do neons do this when expecting? Or is it sick?

If its scales are sticking out like on a pinecone, then you definitely have dropsy. Otherwise, it could be pregnant, possibly egg-bound...

I don't see any scales sticking out on it. It is quite aggresive to the other neons however. It's always trying to chase the other fish away from itself. I just fed them and it was right in there with everyone else trying to get some...

Neons will get a bulging belly simply if they've eaten a lot. I wouldn't worry.
