Hi Everyone

I was just wondering, do Neon Tetras and Cardinal Tetras shoal together? I'm talking in general. I know this has been discussed before, but since the site was re-organised all the archives (previous topics) have been deleted (or that's how it appears to me) and I can't seem to remember what was said. I was wondering because I wanted to do just a shoal of 10 Neons, and then a shoal of 8 Cardinals. I think they look OK together from what I've seen, but do they shoal? *thinks*

Thanks
Scott

Well, I know that the tetras will at least school with their own species. My guess would be that they might school together for short periods, but not all the time. Neons and cardinals are different from each other, and I assume each of the tetras won't really care for hanging out with the 'different' kind. They might do it some, but not too much.

I personally have never tried it before, but my first instinct is that they more than likely will school, seeing as how they are so similarly marked (isn't convergent evolution great?), but that's probably just my opinion.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a go and see what happens. I suppose, like you say, they'll school with their own species anyway.

I can vouch for the fact that they will school together, with no reluctance whatsoever.
