I have this atrocious LFS. They sell pimelodids in the same tank as tiger barbs (great way to confuse a newbie), fullgrown oscars in 30g's, and at least four tanks of all kinds of painted fish. I've been looking for a 75g tank divider, so I went there as a last resort to look around.

Painted white skirt tetras. 7.50.

A week later, I went back to rescue a cichlid in too small a tank that I saw.. I happened to check the white skirt tank. Same tank, less fish.

Some of them still had traces of paint, but I just found it humorous... it should be illegal, not only because 80% of them die, but because if anything, they're ripping people off.

Yes, they should be banned & people informed about the method of painting fish.

That is why one of the first thing I'll tell someone who is looking at lfs's with them is how they are died, and point out that they are the same fish as the white or albino "whatevers". The only way to help stop this is to inform people of how this is accomplished (the dying of fish)...I've said it once, and I'll say it again...You wouldn't tattoo a small child, why would you tattoo a fish?
