	Piranha Tankmates?

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004	depends, guessing red belly pirhanas. they like to school, but a single one should be around 1 foot or so, so when you do the math 1 larger fish + school of them = big tank, so it would depend on the number of pirhanas and type. but should probably over 100 + gallons.

djtj Fish Master Posts: 1764 Kudos: 885 Votes: 49 Registered: 20-Feb-2003	Pirhanas are not as bad as most people think and actually tankmates would have a better chance of attacking them than visa versa. Plecos or other armored catfish would work. However, I would focus on having a decent sized school (6+ fish) before I worried about another species, because the best tankmate for a pirhana is another pirhana.
