I feed him bout once a week i meant feed him FEEDERS only once a month. yea, u should feed him other foods at least once a week. in juvi. stages its usually better to feed them every 2-3 days. but once theyre 5in. or so once a week is perfect. |

Once a month.!? I feed him bout once a week, He also also eats flake as he is still a juvenial to give him vitamins(aparently) very rare i give him flake and i make sure he eats it all so old flake does not increase ammonia. Nitrates are good. |

More plants and a small water change every few days (for a couple of weeks, see how it goes) should clear it up. You're better remedying the cause of the algae than getting something to fight the problem without the possibility of it ever ceasing. Thumbs up on the larger tank. Good Luck Scott |

I dont know what is is causing bad algae. I feed him meet and i watch him eat it all, and i only have light on 7-8 hours a day and no sunlight is any where nere him. Ph and Kh ,ammonia etc all good. Slightly high Ph 7.9. Thanks all again. |

This way you end up with a total of 6 - 8 adults (obviously this is just an example) who will happily co-exist with each other. You adjust the number of juveniles up depending on how many adults you want to have in the end (there is a general ratio). This may seem cruel, but its how it would be in the wild. In fact, it's probably more cruel to keep a natural shoaling-fish on its own for the rest of its days. This is most likely the case with your fish. Don't worry though, this can easily be fixed. I think the pleco and tank-size issues have already been discussed so I won't go there. Merry Christmas Everyone! Scott |

In a 100 litre tank. I have very bad algae, I have tryed all remadies. Would it be safe to put a common pleco in with the R-B-P.? |

NOW, i will not guarantee ur plecos safety if u try this. my first shoal of reds did just fine with a pleco in their tank. even when they were 10in. they still left it alone, just plain ignored him. my two latter shoals however wouldnt tolerate a pleco once they hit 4in. even when i bought a 10in. pleco, with both shoals they simply ganged up on it. but i do know quite a few people who have plecos with their piranha n all is good. like i said tho, i can not n will not guarantee the safety of ur pleco if u get one. GOOD LUCK |

Person at local fish store said it was common when there juvenial's. I am getting a bigger tank when he is big enough. I was just wondering how safe a plec would be with R-B-P.? Forget the situation. |

Common plecos reach over 45 cm, and will very quickly outgrow that tank. The same goes for the piranha. They reach about 30 cm, and will not fit in the 100 liter tank, either. If you ask me, you should move the piranha, and start over with the tank. They should be kept in groups anyways, and you don't even have room for one. |
