I personally wouldn't do it, as ham has a relatively high fat content. I read that if you are going to feed your piranhas big chunks of meat, it is best to use whole white fish fillets. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

TIGER9 Enthusiast Posts: 237 Kudos: 174 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Feb-2003 | DO NOT FEED THEM HAM, no pork, beef, or poultry. all of these are WAY to high in fat, oil, and probably hormones to be given to a piranha. keep them on a diet of shrimp, white meat fishes(no salmon, tuna, or shark) nothing that has a pink or red color to the meat. its a dead give away to high oil content. occasional feeders(once every two weeks to a month) are ok, but go for 1-2 large feeders as opposed to 6-12 med. or small feeders. something close or even bigger than your smallest piranha would be perfect. alot more meat and alot less fin n scales. if they will take dry prepared foods such as cichlid pellets then that is fine as well. i used to stuff a couple cichlid pellets into chunks of shrimp with all of my piranha shoals, sneaky. the last thing u want to do tho is introduce mammal or bird meat of any kind. its horrible for the fish and ungodly what it does to your tanks water chemistry. hope this helps |
