In my 29 gallon tank I have 6 lemon tetra and 5 silver hatchets. The hatchets seem to be quiet affraid now that I put the lemons in with them. They arent as playful and they act timid during feeding time. How can I fix this? I was planning on buying more than 5 hatchets, but thats all they had at my lfs, they should be getting more in soon. Will it help if I get more? What should I do?

Do you notice the lemons attacking/nipping them? Hatchets are top swimming fish, so maybe a few floating plants would help

They dont nip at them, but during feeding time they become a little aggressive and swoop very close to the hatchets. They never make contact but I think it might be scaring them. I have some floating plants in there right now and one or two might hide amongst it but the others are spread out throughout the tank. They dont school very tightly at all, atleast not as tightly as they use to before the lemons were introduced into the tank.

more hatchets will help regardless, so get more when you can. they like a big school. there shouldn't be much going on between the lemons and the hatchets, but just make sure the hatchets are continuing to get enough food.

I think that by adding more Hatchets & the floating plants, will help, but you can also feed you fish in 2 different places at the same time, so they can get away from the Lemons & eat peacefully.
