i'd go you 1-2inches of small gravel or sand, with grass like plants, it's good to watch the fish swim between the line leaves.

i would then add a shoal of 10-15 neons and thats it. maybe couple shrimp to help with any algae.

I'd go with approximately 15 lbs of gravel, plastic plants (especially Jungle Val, tall plant that appears like tall, thick-leaved grass), and two schools. I would put in a school of ten Rummynose Tetras (since they school incredibly well) and a school of ten Cardinal Tetras (tinier than Neons, but more appealing in my opinion)

Lies. Cardinals are bigger than neons.

I have a lot of cryptocoryne plants in my tank and the tetras are alays dashing madly in and out of their leaves, fun to watch.

you want black phantom tetras. They're pretty AND comical.

Well, I guess I can only go on my personal experience and listed statistics when saying that Cardinals are smaller than Neons, but I sure didn't think I was lying...I apologize if I was...

I would put 15 cardinals, 5 panda cories, and 2-3 ottos. BUt only if you have algae. If you don't don't put them in there because they are reluctant imo to take algae flakes or the like.

For a 30 gallon...10 Cardinal Tetras and 6 Panda Cory's. Also, a pair of Bolivian Rams(of Blue Rams if you prefer them)

sorry iltat, I didn't mean it in an offensive way, i and my friends use the word "lies!" as a kind of joky reprimand....but then I guess the tone of voice doesn't come across when it's being typed. im really sorry.

Have you really had cardinals smaller than neons though? Everything I've read suggests cardinals are 2" and neons 1". But then I've never kept cardinals so I wouldn't know....not trying to pick a fight, just intrigued to know what the truth is

cardinals are definately bigger and brighter - maybe there is a misnomer going on (i've seen poor quality petshops selling the two species misnamed...and i must admit have bought a dozen cardinals at neon price from a dude who didn't know one end of a fish from the other...) in cardinals the red line goes the full length of the body...

i'd go rummies or cardinals for the tank, btw, plus corys (sterbai are real nice).
