I wouldn't accept any more tetras from your friend. First of all, he shouldn't have gotten the new ones if he couldn't keep them. Secondly, the tetras you already have would probably appreciate more of their own kind, instead of more newcomers. Third, Congo tetras get very large for tetras, so I wouldn't go dumping those pristellas in.

Basically, I suggest adding three more emperor tetras. All tetras are schooling, and do best in groups of six or more. Due to the large size of congos, I wouldn't add any more of those. The one you have will just have to either hang out by themselves, or school with the emperors.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

A trio of congos won't fit into a 10 gallon---nor will a trio a emperors---put 6 of them in a ten gallon, and you're just asking for trouble, either behavioral or water quality.

well congos will defintally not fit in a 10g. and as for emperor tetras, they are not schooling and they do not school like other tetras, they prefer pairs on trios. males can actually be quite vicious to each other at times. i wouldn't personally keep the emperors in 10g because they are known to be quite sensitive. oh and don't accept any more tetras from your friend untill you have got the congos a new home.
