kafifa![]() Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 147 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Feb-2004 ![]() ![]() | well not suddenly, i did a complete rescape of my tank, and when i'd finished, et voila my tetras had started hanging out as a group - somehting which they did beofre in the loosest sense of the word!! there is now a long stretch of tank for them to swim through as well - is this why? or is it because they feel more threatened now that the tank is more open? more to the point will they stay like this?? cos it looks very cool!! ![]() |

In another tank I have 9 Black phantoms and the swim in the same area but they are definatly not in a school. But I have heard that rearranging the tank could change behaviors a little. |

kafifa![]() Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 147 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Feb-2004 ![]() ![]() | they're neon tetras, and i have 12 of the little buggers ![]() well fingers crossed they stay that way - maybe i shud spook them every now and again - keep them on their toes (fins..?) the only other time i saw them school was when i added protozin to the tank - the blue colour prob looked like a big fish shadow to them - i was amazed at how good a shoal of brightly coloured fish can look ![]() ![]() |

It's a good way of calming cichlid aggression and, as you have found, getting fish to school. Unfortunately I think they will go back to not schooling so much as soon as they are used to the new environment. Maybe you need to get a permanent 'threat' in the tank, a larger fish that will not actually do them any harm, but will make them school more often. A dwarf gourami or pair of rams might work, depending on how big your tank is and other tankmates of course! The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde |
