Tetras with Discus | |

Cardinal and rummynose tetras are usually good choices. This does depend on your stock list though, as stated above. |

Rummies in particular will appreciate the warm water that Discus like, as Rummies are 'hothouse' Characins that like it around 80°F and above. To give you an idea of the kind of display that is possible, Liverpool Museum had an aquarium with Discus, Cardinals and Rummies in (about 30 Discus with 200 each of the Tetras or thereabouts!) and the spectacle was amazing. Mind you, they did have a 1,000 gallon tank for their setup |

It appears you are at, or very close to a full stock list for your tank. I would not add any discus to that tank. A school of tetras would be fine to add, and would put you at your limits IMO. And you could increase your school of the tetras you already have. Though depending on your water change regime, and your filters, you could add more. But I would not add any discus. Your pleco, if not alreay, will get up to 20 inches long, and thus take up about a third of your bioload in your tank. You might want to re-consider him for this tank. There is always a bigger fish... |
