Hi everyone,

My 20 has been fully cycled for about a couple weeks now, and I'm thinking of getting a school of Cardinal's for my planted 20 gal long. What is a good school size for that aquarium? At least 6 for sure.

I have 1 female Betta. 2 male Dwarf Gourami's, 1 small Bala Shark (that will be leaving soon), and 1 Bushynose Pleco.

pH is around 8.0, GH is 3.92 ppm, KH is 6.72 ppm, temp is 28^C. Which hardness reading between either GH or KH is most important when considering fish for your aquarium?

Thanks

I don't know about the hardness question, but I can tell you that cardinal tetras would prefer a much lower pH. They aren't the hardiest of tetras, and can be susceptible to stress and disease when kept in such basic water. You might want to consider buying a school (for your tank, six or seven) of tougher tetras instead. There are some beautiful tetras that are still hardy, like lemons and blue tetras. It certainly would be possible for you to keep lemons, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah my pH is a little off isn't it? Well I ended up getting a real nice shoal of Cory's instead I can't remember the exact name of them but it's something like "ascilius" or other. I'll be making a post with a pic in the bottom feeders section when the lights come on for a fish ID. Thanks for your help guys.
