Even Bruce Moonmaw has had problems with them as I recall, and that's saying something! I'd say make sure your LFS has had them in for at least a week before you buy them, watch them very carefully, ask for them to be broken up into several bags, do a loooong acclimation, and cross your fingers. A group of eight would be very nice. EDIT: Here's a pretty good thread on them, from a little while back. If you search for "diamond*" you get a good number of entries. You could get more, depending on the size of your tank, and the other inhabitants. |

BruceMoomaw![]() Mega Fish Posts: 977 Kudos: 490 Votes: 0 Registered: 31-Dec-2002 ![]() ![]() | It may be that my troubles with them have stemmed from the fact that I'm trying to keep them in a big community tank at the local library filled with other tetras, rasboras and barbs, whose water is a bit on the acid side -- and Diamonds, judging from what I keep reading, prefer water less soft and acidic than most tetras. As yet I haven't quite had the nerve to try out some more Diamonds in the tank right now (they're a bit too expensive), although the current swarm of fish in there seem to be doing pretty well (I may have finally eliminated my long-time problem with epidemics of various nasty protozoan diseases). |
