I would go for a school of 8-10 of each marbled and silver hatchets. They are both hardy in my experience. Silvers are bigger. But if your tank can handle only one or if you only want one then you should definintly get marbled.

i prefer marbled, and have a school of 14 in a 6 foot tank - i reckon i could get away with another half dozen, as they are such a surface fish - ie, they don't intrude into other fish territories. they like big groups, and some surface cover. i grow banana lillies for them.

Oh and watch these things, GirlUnderARainbow, they are ROCKET propelled jumpers - as you might expect with them being freshwater flying fishes! In a 6 foot long, they'll have a good "runway" for take-off, and to forestall such aerobatics, not only will a good cover be essential, but floating plants - if you can find it, Water Lettuce Pistia stratiotes is a good choice in a tank as big as yours

Most books and stuff will say that the silvers are somewhat hardier than the marbleds. Just an FYI. At work they seem pretty similar though. The silvers seem to adjust to commercial foods better.

I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!
