Does it just not work? I just set up a 10g and cycled it for a week before adding fish. I bought 6 neon tetra's an put them in the tank, only to find 2 dead by the following morning. My LFS replaced them, but in the past 3 days, I've lost an additional 3 fish (one of which I can't even find anymore). Do neons no fair well with the initial cycling process? I've tested everything, and all the levels are normal. I buy fish from the store all the time, so i'm pretty sure it isn't their stock.
Help please. I don't want to lose any more...

no for fishless cycle you have to add pure ammonia. Search on google for fishless cycle and you should find everything you need

Like greenmonkey said neons are horrible fish to cycle a tank with and if your new to fish keeping I really don't recommend you try fishless cycling. The zebra danios are going to one of your best choices.Just remember to be patient (start with about 3 danios)even a tank that small it can take up to a month to fully cycle.

I never said I was opposed to fishless cycling.I said if you were new to fishkeeping I would recommend against it.
For people who are new to fishkeeping cycling a tank even with fish in it is hard enough to understand. The mere thought of doing it without any fish in the tank and the almost daily testing of the water(of which again if your new you really don't fully understand) for some people it makes them think WHY Bother if I'm going to have to go through all this for possibly a month before I get to add any fish to my tank it's just not worth it. And lets be honest when you got your 1st tank You just couldn't wait to put the fish in.
