Will this work out in a 75gal.? I just have one 8 inch redbellied pirhana as of now, but have the choice of adding a 6 inch black pirhana. I dont know if I should just try it and see what comes out of it. I work at the lfs and there is this black pirhana in a 10gal. hes been in there for 3yrs. and I wanted to give it a home...your thoughts...

Well, piranhas are schooling fish, so the more the merrier I guess...

Im just afraid that one will become more dominant and kill the other one, I heard that blacks are more aggressive and are more solitary than the redbellied, so I dont know?

!NO! u should not under any circumstance mix black piranha with any other fish, even other piranha, even other black piranha for that matter. black piranha should only be kept in a SINGLE SPECIMEN tank. the only time mixing them with other piranha works is in huge public aquariums and even that is hit or miss. i know u mean well but if u do this one of those piranha will die.

whew... glad u read that before u got him. if u had say a 29g. u could house a 6in. black for a good while. they have an extremely slow growth rate. this would give u time to save some dough for a bigger tank. just a thought.

Bigger tank is essential for it. It is a slow grower but does require space to move and 10g isn't big enough long-term.
