since i purchased my 5 rosy tetras say...2 mos ago...i nver seen them feed the bottom part of the tank...always just the top and most of the time..just waiting for any fud to drop at the middle of the tank and thats when they start snooping the fud...but today..as im feeding them....i noticed one of the tetras scoop up a pice of pellet on the gravel and swam with it as it continue eating the piece falling into its mouth...then keeps on doing it again...others r not doing it yet...but hopefully they learn from that one...its fun to see this fish now as it competes for more fud with the rest. (that spells more competitors for my pandas )

Yeah Tankie, my lemon tetras do that as well. I don't know if I'd call stealing from the cories a "trick" though... might fit better under the "crime" category.

My Lemon Tetras try stealing bits of Hikari wafer from my Pandas sometimes also.

I break my Hikari wafers into several pieces, and scatter them about using a piece of spare undergravel uplift tube to place them where I want them. The Pandas know what's happening (they can sense the difference in the vibrations compared to simply dropping flakes in) and within about 5 nanoseconds they're out waggling their tails and playing 'push hockey' with the bits.

If a Lemon Tetra tries stealing one of the bits (and although mine try at times, they're never successful - they end up carrying the bits around for 3 or 4 seconds before they have to drop them) then the Pandas have 4 or 5 more to choose from.

Mind you, it is amazing what Lemon Tetras will try and eat sometimes, and it would not surprise me to hear of Rosies performing the same antics.

Follow my suggestion above, and scatter broken Hikari bits about the aquarium to give your Pandas a fighting chance. Not that mine need it really as there are 8 of them in the Panda Fun Palace™ and they are practically the dominant fish in there
