Per another thread, I have a question about small schooling tetras. In my 10g tank I have:

2 bloodfin
1 black neon
1 orange von rio
3 neon

Now, I was under the impression when I got the fish (via info from friends and the LFS) that tetras will school with other tetras of the same body type and similar size. I.e. No schooling between neons and black skirts.

Is this the case, or is it outdated information that I received?

The other fish in the tank are 2 corycats and 1 male betta. I haven't seen much schooling - but ofcourse it is a very small tank.

What do you guys think?
Joey

EDIT: Sorry for posting this in the wrong category... I just wasn't thinking. Will be better in the future

You definitly got some wrong info. The different tetras won't school together.
But, because it is a small tank, they will be fairly close all the time. So it might no effect them as much.

You really need more of your neons. I have found that yes my other tetras will school together in the 125, but they typically try to stay within their own type, and will be happiest with their own...of course as stated, with the small tank they really don't have a lot of choice but to stay together...Heidi
