I am getting two young angels for a 38 gallon tank. I would like one school of tetras to put in there with them. What do you think would work in this set up? Thanks.

That will depend... What other fish are going in there? Exactly how big are the angels right now? If the angels and tetras will be the only fish in the tank, and the angels are small enough to NOT fit small tetras in their mouths, basically any tetra will work. Neon tetras are the natural food of angels, but many people have success keeping them together by introducing them while the angels are very young. Tetras I suggest based on hardiness and looks (in no particular order): black neons, glolites, lemons, red serpaes, black/red phantoms, bleeding hearts, black/white skirts... the list goes on :%)

Some people will tell you certain tetras like to nip, but I've personally never had a problem with it.

Big bodied Tetra's are fine with your Angels. You can check the Tetra list at this site's Species Profiles. I don't recommend Neons, as they are small & can be eaten by the Angels, Congo Tetra, as they are african & the water parameters are different & Fin-nipping Tetras, as they'll nip at the Angels fins.

smnst - I have left a thread with the same question - I have had recommendations from a school of harlequin rasboras to a school of cardinals - the wisdom from the group is to introduce the cardinals first - let them settle for 1 to 3 weeks - provide plenty of hiding spaces then add your angels - just make sure the angels are on the small side and then everyone can grow old together - good luck - I have 4 beautiful large angels in a 45 gallon tank with some other cichlids (uaru and geophagus) - I recently set up a 55 gallon tank which I am doing in more of an angelfish community style with angels, pearl gouramis, a large school of bandit cories and one other fish (cardinals, rasboras or some other kind of tetra)- good luck and have fun
