Yeah it's tea tree oil. The formula for Melafix is identical to that of Bettafix. But Bettafix is more diluted and more expensive, at my LFS.

Tea Tree Oil is super concentrated compared to melafix, of course. A bottle of Tea Tree Oil from the pharmacy section of a department store is like 5 or 6 bucks and would probably last indefinitely when using it for stuff you'd normally use melafix for. Personally, I use it dilluted with water for cleaning the outside of my tanks, glass hoods and such.
