	All Fry Dead
martinh Fingerling Posts: 39 Kudos: 18 Votes: 3 Registered: 08-Apr-2006	my molly had 12 fry , caught them and put in new tank with water from original tank. everything looked fine till i got up next morning and they were all dead. everything in the tank was new i was told to put a bit of my wifes nylons on the filter to stop them getting sucked in. i cant adjust the filter and they were all stuck on it this morning. is it possible the filter is to strong or is it bad luck. the temp was 82 same as original tank

chelaine Big Fish Posts: 383 Kudos: 343 Votes: 78 Registered: 23-Jul-2005	Edited by chelaine what size tank and filter is it? it is very possible that the intake of that filter is WAY too strong.. newborn fry usually take a few days before they can get up the strength to swim away from such a current. when i have fry in my tanks, i use a net breeder that i purchased from petsmart for around $5. this is good because it keeps the babies away from the current, safe from the other fish, and close to the water surface for feedings. in the future you might try that. as for the filter, you might downgrade and get a little cheap 10 5-10 gallon filter. martinh Fingerling Posts: 39 Kudos: 18 Votes: 3 Registered: 08-Apr-2006	filter is called fluval but its a lot more powerfull than the one in my main tank. the small tank i got is a 28 litre. sounds like it is the filter i,ll know better next time if she has fry i'll by a breeder net fo my small tank , seems everything i do first with fish turns out a disaster , i thought i was doing the fry a favour getting them their own tank. thanks for the advice.
