Sounds weird but I have an angel who looks as though it's trying to pass a huge stone or something. Could it be its internal organs. Basically his arse is bulging. We recently moved house and wondered whether the trauma of the move may have triggered something. Please help, the angel is really agitated which sort of says it's in a bad way.

If constipation is suspected there are proponents of the famous "green pea treatment"...

Remove the skin from a green pea, squash it and feed to the fish.

Sounds awful to me but don't tell the "Jolly Green Giant" I said so.

Watch the fish when it is at rest. Like, turn out the lights and let them go into rest mode (they sleep by remaining in the same spot). If you can take a flashlight without startling the thing, see if you notice little red worms dangling from the vent (his arse). These would be camallanus and you can see them when the fish is completely relaxed.

Could definitely be constipated too. Try not feeding for a day, then thaw a frozen pea, pop the outer shell off and feed the two halves to the fish. If he is really big, give him two. Many fish like the pea flesh and it will make them go.

See?? The Jolly Green Giant has Diane in its clutches and she just repeated what I said before...

The only difference is I said "squash" a pea and she said "pop" a pea and feed both.

Usually I only feed the pea skin to fish with teeth because I don't want to jam them up even more.

Don't say "fiber" either.

Thank you to all who have offered advice. I think i'll try the pea treatment and let you know.

Cheers!
