My beautiful yellow betta died. Its laying in the corner of a 1 gallon tank. Its body looks still yellow but its lungs are deep red. It also has a foggyish layer surrounding the body. It doesnt look bloaded. I haven't noticed any previous symptoms. What are my possible conclusions for this unexplained death?

Sorry for your lost. It probably died of a fugus disease. What where your water perimeters like? How often did you do your water changes? How long did you have the Betta?

I did weekly 100% water changes and the temperature stayed around 75 degrees. I feed the fish twice daily, pellets in the morning and blood worms in the evening. I often skipped a meal or so. The water was about a pH of 7.5. Anything else you need to know that would help find out what happened?

I don't think you should do 100% water changes. I used to, and all my bettas died except for one, which I now only do 50-75% change. Bar for this I can not see anything wrong. Perhaps doing the 100% water change stressed him out, and when they get stressed out they are prom to diseases. The only thing is, 75 degrees is a bit low. Bump it up to 82-82.5 degrees. I notice when they get cold, they seem to attract the fugus.

I have lost 2 yellow bettas. I was talking to a breeder here and he was saying that there was a shipment of bettas that were mostly yellow and not very healthy. If I had to make a good guess about the two I lost I would say intestinal parasites.
