| Betta with fuzz | |
littleslicknick![]() Fingerling Posts: 40 Registered: 19-Mar-2004 ![]() | I just in herited a Betta from a friend of mine and he is in rough shape. He looks like at one point he look to be an absolute pride of his species, but now he is looking pretty bad . He appears to be very slim. His gill covers also seem to stick out very far from his head. It looks like he is trying to start to flair, but just doesn't have the energy. He also has a fuzzy spot on his right side almost directly in the middle of his back. I assume it is a fungus. What are some suggestions to get this boy back in shape? I plan to move him to a 5 gallon tank and get him out of the Betta Hex he cam in. The poor guy barely has room to turn around ]:| . It is a duel hex, but thankfully his "partner", another male, appears to be doing great. I really want to save him as he is an amazing looking fish, so please please please help me save my boy. Thanks.-Nick [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-08-20 10:12][/span] |

In your case the fish requires new water that matches the same temp and pH that he's in now. If you can get the Betta some nutritious food and room to swim he should start to improve. There are a few meds for fungus problems such as Melafix, an anticeptic, or "Fungus Eliminator" but one has to be careful that the meds don't kill a weak fish. Another product called "Binox" is a gentle med for weak and stressed fish with fungus problems that you may want to try. --garyroland. |
