![]() | Black worms from the CAE gills |
dukydaf![]() Fingerling Posts: 34 Registered: 02-May-2004 ![]() ![]() | My 5CAE are not very happy and i don't know why. Also i lost 1 angel and 2 callistus. They were staing at the surface, and the callistus were swiming in all directions bumping into things. 1 of the CAE died and i thought i'll keep him for later to see if there were any sings of diesease. After a few hours a red spot developed at his neck. So i waited too see what the red spot will make of my fish. After one day guess what some black worms 1 cm long are coming out of the red spot. That makes me gone pp.. bleh. Any idea what diesease it is?? How can i combat it?? |

This is actually a parasitic worm that causes cysts on the skin from which they often dont usually emerge, since fish are actually the intemediary host, the eventual destination usually being birds, but it is possible that in the absence of another species to infec the maturation process might continue. Could you describe the worms more closely? Are they tubular or flat bodied, smooth or in sections etc . Its even possible that tiny leeches have attached to a wound so we really need more details of the worms themselves. |
