Boesemani Rainbow in bad shape! | |
Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | Ok so here is the deal. 55G Stocked with: Pair of Convicts + Fry Female Convict Rainbow shark BN Pleco Clown Pleco 3 Giant danios 2 Boesemani Rainbow I checked my tank this morning and all the fish seem to be doing fine. I came back from class this afternoon and my rainbows are in bad shape. One looks a little beat up and the other a lot beat up and hiding in the rocks work. The Convicts have been a little more aggressive this spawn with the other fish in the tank. I don't think I have seen anything become of it until now. The Rainbow shark also seems to go after these guys a bit so he might also be adding to the problems at hand. I don't know who was kicking there butt but I pulled them out of the tank and in to a QT. The QT I am a little bit worried about. It has been sitting on the floor for a couple of months with the gravel in it and a thin covering of water. Here is what I did: -Filled with water -double shot of Prime -Moved a filter from another tank to it -added an airstone -put a heater in there to be pluged in by my wife because I have to leave for class. -added the Rainbows Did I forget anything? Will the tank have enough bacteria to not cause a nasty cycle on them? Should I add another fillter for more bacteria? Anything you all could help with will be great. I have to run to class at this point but I might be able to check yoru responces before class starts. Thanks! 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

I netted it up and put it in a ziplock and to the freezer. The other rainbow I will keep in the QT until he is better. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

So if I had to guess, i would say that the convicts were the culprits. I do not think that you are forgetting anything, but you might want to add some filter media from the 55g to the quarantine tank's filter, or at least add some of the 55g's gravel to the quarantine just in case the tank doesnt have enough bacteria to prevent a cycle from occuring. |

I know the Boesmanis are not agressive like the Cons. but they are super fast so there has never really been a problem. The filter I added to the QT was from the 55. Thanks for your input. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
