Might not be fungus , it might be columnaris bacteria. Try treating for both and just try a different antifungal med. Try turning the lights off for a few days and see if it helps, it might help the meds have more effect. Theres not a lot of advice to give other than that

Thanks for your reply!

ive been treating with malachite green and might also add some melafix to the tank to see if that will help . its still alive for the moment which is a good sign i guess considering he was in a bad way since i found him on monday.

i will keep the lights off for now and see how that goes..

Stop what you're doing! BN's don't like copper based meds - like anything with methyl Blue or Malachite Green. You will end up killing the BN's - i did this once as beginner!

If you're going to try anything, i'd suggest Tri-Sulfur. It's got very strong anti-bacteria/anti-fungus properties, and is safe for use with fish like BN's and loaches (scaleless).

Only ever try one course of medication at a time. If you want to try the primafix (which is safe with melafix), then you will need to do a 40% minimum water change for 2 days to 'flush' the old meds out of the tank. Then start treating with the primafix. I honestly think you'd be better off hitting it straight with the tri-sulfur which is much more potent than primafix or melafix.

im gng to be moving these fish inc the bristlenose (other fish are cories and a tetra) to another tank so ill add the tri-sulfar to that tank...

thanks for that!
