I have had my pond set up for more than a week but in the past three days i have noticed that two of my fish developed a redish purple discoloration on it's back around the fin tough the fish does not seen to be in pain I am still worried. Can it be a simple bruse like when you stub your toe on a table leg?]:|

Have you tested to see how high the ammonia is in the pond since it is cycling?

could either be an infection or tisue irritation from ammonia or nitrite. so it the the water quality is ok than my guess is its an infection which can be treated with triple sulfur or similar anti-biotics

I would add some salt to the water in order to help the bruises heal. The easiest way to do so would be in a cup with a lid. Make sure you poke holes in lid the lid so the salt can dissolve. This method releases the salt over time instead of all at once.

The salt they are suggesting is specific to fish tanks you can get it at your LFS (local fish store).

I'm not entirely sure that salt will do anything in this case but as goldfish are more tolerant of salt in their water than other fish you may do okay.
Aquatic plants are likely to not enjoy the salt so if possible I'd remove them prior to treatment.

Some people think salt has no use at all in fresh water tanks!
