This afternoon I added Fungus clear saying it will releave him of his clamped fins would this medication help- also if meds are old will they be Ineffective or harm the fish in anyway?
Thank You,
Kat

It is good you used some type of antibacterial, but something else is needed too - a small amount of freshwater aquarium salt, predissolved. Don't use table salt as it has iodine.

The rock salt is hard to dissolve, but using very hot tap water with a little conditioner to remove chlorine/chloramine dissolves it fastest. Dribble in a little at a time over the course of the day, AFTER it cools to room temp. Use 1 tsp per gallon. By slowly adding it throughout the day, you prevent osmotic shock.

He is probably short on electrolytes. The salt will help boost this. If you have cories in the tank, they should be able to deal with 1 tsp per gallon, provided it is added slowly. You can add over two days if you have cories.

Continue with the Fungus Clear as directed.

Let us know how he does and, keep his water extra pure with more frequent water changes/gravel vacs while he is trying to recover. When fish are wounded or have been handled, it's kind of like when we get burned, the need for a sterile environment becomes important. He lost alot of slime outside of his tank and may have damaged some of his skin.
