Yup, peats are available in a kind of dry mulm or pellets depending on brand, and usually it comes with a little net to contain it, or you can make use of ladies nylons. You can pop a small amount in the filter, or hang a net bag with some in near a filter outlet inside the tank. If you like the idea of blackwater extract its available in bottles, and you just squirt some in. Ph buffers are just powder you measure up and put into the tank, somewhere in the region of a spoonful every week or two.

Its not that complicated to do , as long as you remember to build up little by little. Add too much too soon,and you end up with very acid water that also has a definite coffee or tea tinge to it. Genrally I use a quarter of the manufacturers recommended amount one week one, half, on week two, and go full dose on week three. Gives the fish time to adapt, and you a chance to get to know the product concentration.
