One of my two clown loaches has got very thin, and seems listless. What could be wrong with him, and what can i do?

Can you test water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank is it, how many fish do you keep in it, it could be internal parasites, isn't they a desease that clown loaches catch at a certain time of year.

There's a certain percentage of Clown Loaches that are captured very young that just don't thrive...

They refuse to eat, thin out and slowly die from starvation.

Some may indeed have internal parasites but because of the severe reaction of young Clowns to meds, they can't be treated.

It never ceases to amaze me how long a thin, hollow-bellied Clown can hang on to life before it dies.

I know what you mean on that point gary ,i agonizingly watched a couple of my small clowns drift away over many weeks, getting thinner and thinner, but still trying valiantly to be part of the crowd.

The tank is a 180g, not many fish are in it, just two tinfoils (6 and 3 inches) 2 silver sharks (5 and 3) two clowns (about 4 inches) and 3 scats (2 ins). Ph has always been a steady 7 and there are no nitrites.
