Anyone know if coppersafe is safe at full strength with small tetras. I thought it was recommended half strength, but didn't see anything in the coppersafe instructions.

Also can I use melafix with coppersafe?

I don't like to use copper with small fish like tetras, actually I no longer use copper at all to treat ich. Sopmething like Rid Ich or Jungle Ich Guard II is much better. I think Ich Guard II contains formalin, malachite green and acriflavine. It is safe for most fish, even juvies and scaleless fish, as far as I know it is safe for inverts as well. One other bonus is that you can pull it from the water column really quickly with activated carbon. Copper on the other hand is fatal to inverts, not safe for scaleless fish and really hard on smaller fish like tetras and it will harm your plants. If you can get Rid Ich + or Ich Guard, get them instead of the Copper Safe.

If you have to go with copper safe, reduce the dose to 1/2. Watch them very carefully for signs of distress for a few hours or even a full day, then if they seem ok go up to 100%. Be ready to do water changes if they seem stressed by it and increase aeration on the tank. If they show any negativbe reaction to it, do a 50% water change immediately and increase aeration as much as you can without creating too much current. Also dim the lights while you are treating them.
