Hi.
I noticed what I think was camallanus worms comming out of the backside of one of my guppies the other day. She has been slowly loosing weight over the few days prior. After reserching on this, and other sites, I purchased the only thing I could get - a bird wormer with 10.5 g/l LEVAMISOLE HCL.
I treated with 20ml to my 200l tank last night and removed the carbon from my filter. This morning nearly all the guppies had what appeared to be small paint brushes comming out of them. Tonight most have gone with only 2 fish appearing infected. I have replaced the carbon in the filter to start removing the meds from the water. I was thinking that I might retreat in 2 days.
Is this right? Have I used enough? What should I do next?
And BTW where did they come from? ... I dont feed any live foods.

Well you got exactly the right med. Hopefully what you saw was the fish expelling the worms. But, vallamanus worms normally only appear when the fish is stationary, because you don't see them doesn't neccessarily mean they're gone. But eventually the Levamisole will clear them out.

It would be wise to give another treatment as the callamnus worms are live bearing, and usually the worm sricking out is sign of reproduction. The first treatment should get the worms and the secind treatment is to zap any larvae that may be in the tank or the fish themselves.

As to were they come from, it's quite possible they have been in the fish for some time it can take up to 4 months for syptoms to show rendering quarantine pretty useless. If you got any new fish in the past few months they could very well be the culprit.

Callamanus is a nasty little bugger, one of the nastiest, but luckily with Levamisole one of the easiest to treat. You may lose a fish or two due to internal damage already caused, so keep a eye out for any "unexplained" deaths in the next few weeks.

Good luck
