I recently lost a female blue acara from my 15G.
The fish spawned last week, but babies were unfortunately eaten.
Yesterday, I discovered that the female has fungus.
I immediately treated the tank with Multi-Cure.
With no visible effect, the fish died sometime during the day today.
The fungus infection was pretty bad, first once the eyes were bit cloudy, then the fungus covered the whole body.

I was just wondering what is the cause of fungus?
Especially to fish after just spawned.
And how can I immune my fish to it and how can I treat already infected fish?

Thanks for any valuable input!
Jimmy

I have used Tank Buddies Fungus Clear by Jungle and it seems to work well.

Fungus usually affects only weak or injured fish in which the fish's natural slime coat has been damaged in some way.
It is not contagious and can be treated with a fungus medication like maroxy or pimafix. It can also infected wounds left on your fish thru other diseases also.

Usually what looks like fungus is not fungus. It's actually a bacterial infection. Fungus tends to come as a secondary infection after the fish is damaged by either poor handling or another illness. Luckily most medicines treat both. Multicure says it's best used before your fish show symptoms of a specific disease and not for strong treatment of a particular illness. It was probably just too weak of a medication to do any good. I would watch the other fish and treat with something stronger if there is any sign of disease.
