AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY GUPPY!
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I recently bought three guppies (2F, 1M) for mynearly empty 10g (it had 2 quarter-inch QTed tadpoles)(3 days ago). I knew at least 1 of the females was pregnant, but didnt know how long. AHH! SHE HAD BABIES! A bunch! But this thread isnt about that. I came home, saw the babies, fed em, and walked away. All that time she was swimming fine. 30 minutes later I came back and saw she was down on the gravel!!! I immediatly put her in one of those view/breed/show boxes in the tank because my ghost shrimp were ON TOP of her. Upon closer inspection, I saw her tail was a bit shredded. Now every min or two she gets up and swims all around the box, but then lays back down on her side. IS THIS NORMAL!?!?!?!?!?:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(

Please help me/her...

EDIT: Parameters: Amm: 0.25
Nitrate: 20
Nitrite: 0
PH: 7.6

she DIED! WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(:#(.
(sniffle) she wasnt the guppy who gave (sniffle) birth... she died of an abrasion on her head that was infected...
She was a beutiful guppy! I had figured that as long as i had her fry, they would be like her. They're the UGLY GUPPY's FRY!!!
That's awful...
I added some stress coat and melafix to the tank, should there be anything else going on...

Um,
ok a couple of things.
Sometimes when a female guppy has babies,
it causes damage to her inside. This can cause
death, or they can recover, depending how much
damage is done. Such is the life of a livebearer,
its a risky business. Putting her in the little box
likely caused more stress for her, resulting in death
that may or may not have occurred otherwise.
Second, you say the fry are "from the ugly guppy".
I wonder how you would know this at such a young age?
Guppy fry are usually solid gray or golden bodied,
and dont gain their colors till around 4-6 weeks of
age. At this point you have absolutely no way of knowing
which male guppy they are from.
Also, because of the nature of guppys breeding,
a female could deliver the fry of multiple males at
the same time. And there is also no guarantee whatsoever that the fry are from either male guppy you have.

The box was vented and shared the same aqurium's water. The was lying on the gravel, and then lying on the bottom of the box. I moved her to protect her from the shrimp.

About the fry: I know they werent hers because both females were full when I bought them, and now the (comparatively) ugly is empty.
Thanks

Remember though, in animals, genetics are
determined a lot for color, such as hair color,
eye color, and skin color, by the Y chromosome.
Your guppies, though the mother was "ugly" as you
say, will likely pick up the fathers coloring
more so than the mothers.
So you have no guarantee that these guppies will
look anything like their mother at all.
I have had hundreds of fry born of mothers
where only a single, or a few fish resemble
the mother, even females.

Sounds like a birthing related death. Its generally not recommended that gravid females are moved about or sold from shops until after theyve given birth. I think lousy genetics and shock of moves caused this death. Unlucky really . Don't think theres much you could have done there.

Id be tempted not to breed from the offspring.
