Hey, haven't been on this site for years. That's what college does to fishkeepers, what can I say.
Anyway, I've been keeping up a 10 gallon tank for at least 3 years now and for a while I had three healthy z. danios. However, they all eventually got really thin and then died. The rest of my fish were fine and there were no signs of diseases. I do weekly 20% water changes. I've had this happen in the past with other danios.
I have one z. danio left right now and he's been really thin for weeks.

3 years is a while for a danio to live. They might be dying from old age

Oops, sorry should have made that clearer. The tank is about 3 years old but the z. danio's only about a year old. The other ones that died were only a few months old as I recall.

It might be internal parasites then because they imaciate the fish. Another sign is if they are flicking against objects. I have a yoyo loach and a bronze cory on the way to recovery right now from that. You just put the anti- parasite tabs in there, raise the temperature, and if you want give them salt baths.

Did you notice them eating at all? If they were, then I'd say something internal as above. Also, was there a change in their surronding? ie, new fish, new plants, tank moved locations....

Just one more tank........
