Most ghost shrimp deaths are from shipping and acclimating stress or from poor water quality. All shrimp are extremely sensitive to ammonia. Very rarely do they suffer from diseases. Whenever I buy new ones I toss any that die to the goby in my saltwater tank and have never worried about illnesses. They are quite easy to breed though once you get a cycled tank with some low light plants setup so most people I know that feed them with any frequency just keep 6-12 in a small 5-10g tank and let them multiply. Since they produce so little waste a tank of shrimp is also one of the lowest maintenance aquariums you can setup. I did water changes about every 6months on my shrimp only tank. It's also got tadpoles in it right now though. |
