Hes never done it before, he does it for a few hours, then eats a little then does it some more. i'v had him over a year, and hes never done this before. |

It's possible he is having swimbladder problems. I know for most fish, these can be helped by feeding high-fiber foods such as peas. ><> |

Also what size tank is this pleco in? Do you know these guys can reach over a foot long? In fact planetcatfish says 17" http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=148. The smallest size I saw quoted on the forum was still around 13" http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=85565. That means he's going to need a tank over 100g in the future and preferably closer to 200g to avoid water quality and stunting issues. If you haven't tested your water quality recently high nitrates could already be a problem. Best to avoid all plecs labelled sailfin unless you've got a good sized tank. They all get to be rather large. |

But i regret giving this one away, hes my first love, as far as plecos go. But i know i have to. so when i get rid of him i'v been looking into it i'll most likely end up with a bristle/ bushy nose pleco for the tank. i just got two clown plecos for my 29g. tank witch i was told would be sutable, provided there was plenty of wood andhiding spots for them. as far a plecos go ihave that area covered. its just all other freshwater fish i want to learn about. someday when i have my ideal 125-200 gallon tank(s) i'll have toget anothergibbie, and someofthe other plecos iv been wanting so dearly. but thats for another time and place. thankyou for looking into it! |
