But then I caught it fairly early and the case wasn't severe. If your fish is severely affected, you could be looking at as long as 14 days for the fish to recover to the point where its eye no longer looks deformed. Even once most of the pathogenic bacteria that caused the symptoms have been killed off and the fish's immune system has been given a chance to destroy the remainder, you still have to wait for the rest of the fish's repair mechanisms to get to work removing the excess fluid that's built up. Removing that collection of gunk in the eyeball is going to take time even if the bacterial infection has cleared, because thre's no obvious drainage vent that I know of allowing the fish to vent the gunk into the surroundings. Fishes do not, as far as I am aware, possess tear glands, at least not in the same manner that we do. The fish probably possesses some mechanism for lubricating the eye so that it can move without abrasion taking place with the eye socket, and that mechanism has been partially disrupted by the infection. Undoing the damage will take time. |

It's part of what we come here for by the way. Now we just need your White Spot to go and take a hike never to be seen again, and you're more or less sorted. |
