My female betta died yesterday, She had a white face. Now my male betta seems to be dying. He also has a white face. I need help quickly. It seemed to happen verry quickly because he was fine when I saw him this morning. Now he looks dead. All he is doing is lying on a leaf.
His face is all white. (it is normally Purple/blue)
Please help me.

What size tank? Any tankmates? What have you been feeding him? Water parameters? Let me know and i'll do my best...

EDIT: is the white 3D and fluffy like a fungus or something?

It is a 96 litre tank. His tankmates are 3 peppered corys, 3 polka dot loaches, 3 yamato shrimps, 5 neons, And i think thats it.
It isnt fluffy or 3d, its just white flat, now its in his eyes and his fins. its just white.
It seems to be spreading verry quickly.Hes just on a leaf gasping for air at the top. hes now lying on his side on a leaf. I thought he was deas so i tried to net him and he shimmied on his side in circles. He seems to want his head out of the water, There is now some white on his side. his eyes are cloudy, theyre not completley white, just about as white as a betta eye can be. When i looked then he was nearly all the way out of the water upside down .

Columnaris bacteria can kill a fish that quickly -- fine in the a.m., gone by afternoon, but there are other things that can do that, too. Is his face just white, or does it look like part of his face is getting eaten away?

if it spread that quickly what ever it is, I d'd do a Water change (match temp pH) say 25%? try to lower what ever it is present in the water , also the cleaner the water the happier the fish are.

I have no idea what it could have been though.

I would be adding Melafix too? if any more fish start to turn white, I would take them out and quarantine them,

I am really sorry, it sounds awful way for a fish to go.

By the sound of it, there wasn't much to do anyway to help him. But, to help the other fish you need to give us some more information:
1. How long has the tank been set up?
2. What are the water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH)
3. What is your cleaning schedule? How much water changed, how often, other cleaning, etc?
4. Any new additions to the tank?

Without this information (or at least some of it) we can only be guessing. Sorry for your loss.

DUDE! consolidate your info a bit! its very hard to read when you do one liner posts.

Whatever it is, it sounds bacterial and vicious.

I'd sterilise EVERYTHING including nets buckets and not add any more new fish for at least a month to see how the other fish go.

Yep it looks really nasty. im going to make another post somewhere about it. I do a 20 per cent water change every week, The tankmates are 3 polka dot loaches, 3 peppered cories, 5 neon tetras and three yamato shrimps.
The thing is what it might be...
When i giot the cories I also got some swordtails, the female of the pair was bent in the middle, and the male started to get a bit of white on one of his swimming fins, I took them back to the fs and they said the bent one was malnurished (it was bent when we got it, i thought they were supposed to be like that. They gave me a credit tag for 2 swordtails, So i went back everyone in the tank was fine, the famale and male betta were swimming together (they were always nice to eachother) and everything looked fine, I went to the shops for about 1 1/2 hours came back and the female betta was dead on the bottom with white eyes. I took her out, And I thought the male was fine he looked perfect, rrally at his best health possible (it looked like) I made a mental list in my head on what was most likl;ey to get the mystery disease next, and as the male was fine I cancelled Him out of the shortlist for next dead fish, I couldnt tell if the loaches were ill atthis point because they normally come outat feeding time or night, At night there they were chasing the neons and cories (harmless chasing not aggressive) so i cancelled them out. I came to the conclusion that the female died of haveing too many eggsn (you know what i mean. she was spending lots and lots of time with the male) so i thought she couldnt get them out or something. She had no sighns of the white on her face, just eyes, so I thought that was just what happened to bettas when they die, Her body was perfect, It was just her eyes. The next day all was fine and so was the morning of the day after that,Then I saw the white on his face, I instantly logged on here and typed my messages, over the next hour it got worse and worse, It went further up his face and eventually in his eyes. Then I noticed his fins, They wereall being eaten away. And his side started getting the white. I took a photo . (it is on my camera i will upload it soon) so you can see it and possibly ID it, Otherwise weve got an unnamed disease going on here (I get to name it first!! lol) Which has claimed the lives of two betta and was probably broght in by some swordtails.
Now will it claim the lives of more of my fish?
I will contact Faith from www.bettatalk.com and ask her, she knows everything lol. I will post what she says later on
