It looks like there is something white on them but it doesn't look like fungus - also there are patches of a brownish looking areas on the fins near the white stuff. What could this be?? He still acts fine, he swims and eats like normal. I'll try to get a pic of it if I can but I'm not sure that it will show up in a pic. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance, Stella ![]() PS the water quality is as follows: Ammonia - 0ppm Nitrite - 0ppm Nitrate - 20ppm (today is water change day - should I go ahead and change the water or will it stess the fish too much??) |

Melafix is not a miracle cure but merely an anticeptic that may be beneficial in your case. Good water quality plays a role in fin problems so try and keep your nitrates reduced through a few small partial water changes during the week until improvement is noticed. --garyroland.
