I don't believe there is any sodium chloride in the Parasite Clear, but look in the ingredient list first. |

I owe you one. Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

They are talking about bacterial gill disease. I would hold off unless the fish shows obvious signs of internal infection or other infection. How is he looking? |

I stick with just 2 doses, go from there, and keep you posted. ![]() Newbie question: I was doing some reading and came across a med called "T.C. Capsules" Says it treats gill disease, cotton mouth, and bacterial tail rot. Active ingredient: Tetracycline Hydochloride. It doesnt say Gill Flukes or parasites--just "gill disease," so I'm wondering if it would be possible to use this med in combination with the Parasite Clear. I dont know much about meds, and mixing chemicals, so I'll ask first. Would this med help as a precautionary measure against secondary infections, or am I asking for trouble by wanting to mix medications??? Any info on T.C. Capsules would be greatly appreciated. |

I have aquarium salt on standby, but havent used any so far. Day 2 of treatment: I did a 30% water change/gravel vac. Then started the 2nd dose of 6 tablets. The fizz action is fun to watch. ![]() I havent seen the Lois do any scratching so far. But she still flashes/darts every once in a while. So whatever it is--it seems to be internal. ![]() I've noticed her color has returned, which I believe is a sign of improvement, but she still has lack of appetite. She'll peck at the pellets I give her, but will only eat a few if any. |

She seems a lot happier now. ![]() |

Here's the situation: My 60 grow-out tank has been setup for about 6 weeks now. The first fish I added was a 2" Parachromis Loisellei, which has grown about an inch within that time, and has been doing fine. 3 days ago, I added a 2" Chocolate Cichlid (H. temporalis). The Loisellei has been the aggressor, and has kept the temporalis up in a corner most of the time. The temporalis hardly eats or doesnt have much appetite. Yesterday I checked water parameters: Temp: 77 F PH: 7.8-7.9 AMM: 0 NitrIte: 0 NitrAte: 10-20 Everything seemed well, so today I added a 2" Texas Cichlid. Afterword, I observed the inhabitants for aggression...the Texas seems to be a better candidate than the Chocolate--which has already been moved to a friend's quarantine tank. So anyway, while watching my fish flare gills at each other, I noticed an alarming behavior from the Loisellei...she was on her side of the tank, just kicking back, then she started to shake or convulse violently for a few seconds, then proceded to scratch one side of her face or gill plate many many times against a surface (she used the heater). ![]() What could it be? ![]() What signs should I look for in making a diagnosis. ![]() What type of medication or treatment? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. ![]() [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-06-25 22:22][/span] |

The old version is not safe at full strength for cories and other sensitive fish, but this is suppose to be quite safe. For flukes, I think it required two treatments. Follow the directions on the box. Drop the tablets right where you have a good current running. They fizz away. If the fish eat some of it, not to worry. It also contains metronazidole, if I recall. Good meds, either way. With most meds you need to remove activated carbon. And, it's often a good idea to increase air. Let us know how it goes. I believe there is some acriflavine in there. If you have plants, the acriflavine can kill them. Straight Praziquantel won't kill plants so that's too bad we can't easily buy it alone. The acriflavine has been added to work on external infections that flukes can cause. It's easy for fish to end up with columnaris infections and if flukes are in the gills, the infection can get in there. Acriflavine helps with this. |

Box difference? will it list the Prazi ingredient on the box? |

It is the only, easy-to-get fish tank med that has Praziquantel in it. If it is gill flukes, this will kill them. Read this from Dr. Erik Johnson, renowned koi-vet. http://www.koivet.com/html/articles/articles_print.php?article_id=198 One or two doses should do it. Just make sure you get the version that contains Praziquantel. They reformulated it earlier this year so if someone has old stock you may get the old one. In it's current form with the Prazi, Parasite Clear Tank Buddies is even cory safe and suggested as safe for goldfish fry at least 6 weeks of age. ![]() http://www.junglelabs.com/pages/details.phtml?item=TB635 I was unable to purchase Droncit from a vet. They were concerned with liability without testing a fish. That is why it is good to know about Parasite Clear. [span class="edited"][Edited by Cory_Di 2004-07-14 19:56][/span] |

The Loisellei is the only fish in the tank now, and its still scratching. My LFS sold me some Fluke Tabs a few weeks ago, in which I did two doses over a 5 day period. The scratching went away. Now just recently the Lois has started scratching its face again, and now its starting to lose its appetite. Is there a med I could dose the tank with that cures a wide variety of ailments? I dont know what it is. There are no visible signs of ich or fungus or what not. Help! ![]() |

See if the fish begins to exhibit any other symptoms. I think they are just trying to show off their strength and size. Are both eating well? Good Luck. |

The Texas did the shake, then scraped the side of its face on a rock. So whatever it is, its contagious!!!!!! What could it be? Whats a good website to reference these symtoms?
