Well, my betta, used to be so lively and over a period of days became extremely larthargic.

I have had him for about 2.5 months. But now, he is constantly laying at the bottom of the tank, not eating, and losing color. I'm really worried. I have tried adding aquarium salt and using melafix.

But it doesnt seem to be helping him in any way.

Anyone else seen this type of behavior or experienced something similar that may help me cure my betta?

Water changes are done every Thursday and Sunday. I have 5 bettas total, and none of the others are experiencing this.

Thanks.

I put a post in just a few days ago, "Fading Color", same thing...Mine was Royal Blue, had for about 6 months, and then just started fading and resting on the bottom of the tank...However, mine would still come up for feeding and eat, then go back down and lay down, if you will...
But, after about 4-5 days of this behavior it passed on.
No markings, No signs of discomfort,(again, eating just fine)..It actually started getting color back when it passed on.....Sorry, not much advice to give, just sharing what i just recently went through.....All the other fish in the Community tank are still just fine....Good Luck with yours....

Thats exactly what I just went through as well. For no reason that I could tell, my Betta just started laying on the bottom. At first it was just short amounts of time, so I didn't think much about it. But gradually he would stay on the bottom longer and longer each time. This went on for over 2 weeks, then he died. He also eat normally until the last couple days. It's really frustrating knowing you did nothing wrong and you still lost a fish. I hope your situation turns out differently.

What about putting in a female? If that doesnt spark something, then he doesnt have a chance...I dont think there is any kinda disease to worry about, since there has been other cases just like this.....couldnt tell ya, maybe he's lonely? maybe he just tired and its time? They will only live several yrs @ avg, and who knows how old they were when we brought them home......

Good Luck
