My fighter (betta) recently had a weird string of poop and long tears in his fins.
The fins have healed but he now has very long , white and stringy poop.
I'm worried his belly looks somewhat blaoted too.
I asked my lfs, they said all I could do is soak some food in pimafix and hope for the best!

What else can I do for my fish =(

In Pimafix? *puzzled* for breath freshness? I'd give that idea a miss, I can't see how that'd help at all other than possibly damaging soft tissue. That really isn't meant to be taken orally, it'd be like dosing someone with Dettol.

How is the rest of his body going? no weight loss? any muscle wastage?

Not unless hes been eating snailmeat or live shrimp. Chances are hes picked up a gastrointestinal parasite that takes out protiens from the poop and massively increases cellulose evacuation, probably protozoa.

Perhaps consider a dose of jungle labs antiparasite formula, its good for shifting worms and protozoa.

Protozoa unfortunately have a tendancy to seriously lower a fishs immune system , meaning they can become amazingly susceptible to minor fungal and bacterial ailments rather like a sufferer of aids could be almost killed by a common cold. Get rid of the protozoa, and his system should pick up, and hopefully the fins will resist bacteria better, and the next time you use melafix or pimafix it might actually work.
