Hello

My Male Dwarf Gourami has had a spot on the front of his gill cover for about 2 weeks now. I have been treating with Melafix for the 2 weeks, but it doesn't seem to be getting rid of it.

Basically, the spot is located downwards (diagonally) from the mouth, right at the edge where the starts to open up, but it doesn't actually enter the gill. The spot started out a whitish colour, and has since gone red and is now a pale brown colour. The area of scales around the spot is raised, making the spot raised, but these scales are not discoloured like the spot is. The spot is about 1.5 - 2mm in diameter, maybe bigger, but is very noticeable to say it is on such a delicate area of such a small fish. It generally looks like smaller 'pieces' clumped together to form the spot, though I'm not certain.

Please, could anyone enlighten me as to what this actually is, and if so, how I could effectively get rid of it? The fish itself seems fine, it's just this hideous spot!

Thanks for the help everyone.

The onlyt thing I can think of is maybe gill flukes. Are the lumps on both of the gills or just one? Here is a site on gill and skin flukes you can read it and see it seems right... http://www.fishdoc.co.uk/disease/flukes.htm
