Hello all ,

I have a 60Ltre tank:

2 platy
2 swordtails
4 neon tetra's

unfortunately both platys and a swordtail were suffering from fungal diseases, they seem to have now recovered by using methylene blue, acriflavine, malachite green(multi purpose remedy by science products). To my suprise I had no idea how dangerous this/these chemicals could be until I started doing further research after application to aquarium. How do I know rid of this chemical in tank?
I have already made 3 water changes in the past 3 days all at 30% and replaced carbon in filter also added extra carbon in media bag also in filter. Will the green/blue tinge in water dissapear over time with water changes?
will this affect the filters biology?
thanking you in advance,
Gee.

It will cause some damage, but to be honest the worst of that will already be over. Unfortunately it has a habit of dying silicone in the tank permanently blue.Even this staining disappears after 6 months or so as the UV from aquarium lights will destroy it eventually.

It will have a moderate impact on the bacteria in the filter, but its not usual for it to kill the whole filter off. From now on id leave things much as they are and just do normal changes from now on, too many waterchanges can impact the filter too, basically depriving it of the ammonia it uses for food to recover the bacterial colony. Your running carbon , and that should be enough for now.
