![]() | My Molly |

I netted her so that she would quit nibbling on other fishes fins. But while she was in the breeder net, I noticed some of her scales were starting to come off. This HAS happen before, when she was in her own tank. I let her out of the net, but noticed that she was being picked on by some of the other fish, so I netted her again, and moved her to the smaller tank so she can be by herself until she's better. I'm just wondering what is causing her to loose her scales. Let me know if you think of anything. The first time that this happen, it was around the time that she had ich, too, so I was treating her for ich, with Quick Cure, which helped her to regain her scales. She is definately my nibbler. I watched her nibble on other fish's fins. And while she was in the other tank, none of my big tank fish were missing parts of fins and such. But as soon as she was moved back in, she started doing this. So, I guess she will just have to stay in the small tank after she's healthy again because I can't have her nibbling fins off of all my other fish. Does anyone have any ideas why she is loosing scales? Thanks! |

All of my water levels were good, and I have been using the NIC like you suggested, and this evening when I came home, I found out that she had died. |

Scale fungus, an episode after suffering from ich, is an underlying problem, unseen until the scales start shedding. Prolonged treatment for ich may have prevented that occurance. Left untreated, the scale (skin) infection kills the fish. --garyroland. |

She did great until I put her in the breeder net for nibbling on the other fish. After about 2 days there, she began to loose her scales again. I have been treating the big tank with the Coppersafe, because my platy was shooting off of things, which, thankfully, she's not doing anymore. I have also been doing partial water changes. |
