I've never used it, but i can't see why the tank size would mater provided you follow the recommended dose rate.

OK... scale less fish, like catfish etc, have a low/no tolerance for copper based substances... i found this out the hard way and lost some BN's So, general rule of thumb is to AVOID using substances like Malachite Green and Methyl Blue when treating your Otto or any other scale less fish. You can try things like Primafix and Melafix for cuts and general illness or stress, things like tri-sulfur and Maracyn for Ich and bacterial infections. Don't use any med's with methyl Blue or Malachite Green, even at reduced dose... it will almost certainly end in death.

Safer products.. i listed a couple above. Having aeration on increasing the temp to about where you have is ideal if you are treating something like ich. But always increase your temp. slowly over a couple of days, no more than 2 degree's C per day. Using any 'anti-bacterial' medication will kill your cycle and the good bacteria that created it. There's not much you can do about that, except use melafix and primafix for minor illness and stress/cuts. They wont destroy the cycle. Pretty much all other med's do. To counter the instability that will occur because of the cycle loss, you need to do 30% water changes every 3 days while treating and monitor closely your Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels. If the levels start to spike, increase the regualrity of water changes to every day, and decrease the amount of water changed to about 10%. Once the treatment is finished, you might want to add something to 'kick start' the cycle again, and you can also return your active carbon to any filters. When you do a water change, don't forget to gravel vacuum the tank!

Hope this helps answer your questions....

For otos I would not use quick cure. Maybe in a half dose ? There are other ick meds like rid-ick or coppersafe which are supposed to be better for scale-less fish.
