Well, after a perfectly awful day at work, I come home to find one of my guppy girls looking pretty bad. She's resting on a leaf near the surface, breathing quickly. After taking a good look at her, I saw that her stomach was looking rather pointy (not squared and large from pregnancy, but pointy) and there seems to be a red spot on her right side, right about her stomach area, I guess.

She's about five months old and just had her second drop (the hussy!) last week. At least... I think it was her drop. She and her sister are ... heh, cycling together.

Anyway, I need help/advice quickly because I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow. We ARE having someone in to feed the fish, but I don't want to abandon her without trying to help. But I don't know what to do... I have no idea what's wrong.

The tank is in the midst of mini-cycling (might be done, I was just about to do waterchange and test tonight) from a large reaquascaping project including changing out the substrate. I don't know if this has effected her or not... the rest of the guppies and even the babies look good.

If need be, I could take her with me... I have a free five gallon at the moment that could be used to transport her. But is it worth the stress of a two+ hour drive? I just don't know what to do... please help... quickly!

*sigh* Well, in case anyone was wondering, she passed on to that big fish tank in the sky. She swam on sometime between Monday night (at which time, she was looking better, I'm told) and Wednesday, when my sister's boyfriend went in again to feed and check up on the fishies. I quarantined her in the five gallon with melafix but there wasn't too much I could do before leaving. Poor thing didn't even have a name yet.

Sad times... the only other fish I've lost was a black neon who was probably destined to die from the first (missing half his face when I got him home from the LFS). I just don't know what happened to this lil guppy girl. Poor thing... wish I could have helped her.

Sorry to hear about your guppy. Maybe she had some kind of internal parasite and that's what the red spot was.

Anyway, R.I.P litle fishie.
